What are psychographics and how are they different to demographics?

A psychographic is the classification of people according to their attitudes, aspirations, values and other psychological criteria. This is completely different to demographics which cover information such as age, gender, income, marital status etc.
Psychographics are important as they explain ‘why’ a consumer buys whereas demographics explain ‘who’ the consumer is. |
